3/11/13 - 3/15/13
Today's concert was such a joy! The kids put their whole heart into what they were doing. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures from our show! I will try to add some videos tomorrow. Following the pictures, please look to see the schedule for this coming week.
Here is our schedule for this coming week:
Math - Tomorrow we will complete and go over the study guide for Ch. 15 - 16. These chapters were all about collecting data and making graphs. Our test will be Wednesday. After that we will begin all sorts of measuring in both standard and metric unit.
Writing - We are continuing to work on our story writing skills. Students are trying to write without much teacher intervention at this point. This is what students must be able to do on the upcoming MAP tests.
Reading - Every group is wrapping up their literature book this week. We have read some great stories! We are also practicing for the MAP test. You will see our practice sheets coming home as graded papers. These practices are like mini tests over the skills we have learned this year. They take a lot of stamina and thinking to complete.
Science - We will begin a study of energy!
Social Studies - Economics Day is this Friday. Your child may bring in his/her product any day this week. All products must be in by Friday, however. We are finishing our ads this week and may have time to create flow charts about our businesses.
Important Events:
Mon. - Library;
Tues. - Math Evaluate test;
Wed. - Ch. 15-16 math test;
Thurs. - Reading Evaluate Test; evening conferences;
Fri. - Economics Day and Early Dismissal at 11:50;

Eight students from our classroom entered a prism project in the Science Fair. I was very excited about the quality of the projects! Below are Peter, Audrey, Ally, Marissa, Jake, Andros, and Alexia. I feel terrible that I missed getting a picture of Jnna and her prism project about the pyramids of Egypt. Please forgive me, Jnna!

The Science Fair was loads of fun! Matt had a chance to hold a boa in the second picture below, and Peter learned about helicopters and got a chance to fly one made of paper!
