Buddy Day Pictures
We took a short break from all of our testing and met with our buddies last Friday. We read a book to our buddy and then played together on the playground.

Weekly Update Pictures and Message for Week of 4/21/14 - 4/25/14
Guess what? Next week is Book Fair! We browsed for good books today, but have the opportunity to buy at our library time on Monday. If you would like your child to buy books, send the money in an envelope with your child's named marked on the front. Book selections were sent home in the Wednesday folder.
MAP begins next week for most students. However, a couple students will be testing on Monday, so be sure you child is rested for the week. I will email you if your child is one of the ones testing on Monday.
If you haven't already done so, please send in an item or our trail mix. It is really something the children look forward to.
Finally, we are having a reward party this coming Friday. Students may wear pajamas, bring a stuffed animal, and bring a device for Device Day. Remember, I have computers at school, so don't worry about the device if you don't feel comfortable sending it!
Below are pictures of students browsing at the Book Fair!
Important Events:

Weekly Update 4/14/14 - 4/18/14
It looks as if spring and warm weather are finally arriving! Keeping everyone focused is proving to be a challenge, but I know this class can do it. Besides, it is only a little bit longer. Students are trying their best on all MAP activities. I have no guarantees, but at least I can tell you that everyone is trying to be a proficient student and test taker.
Thank you to parents for sending in permission notes and money for our Suson Park field trip. Look for another field trip note in this week's Wednesday folder. I hope several parents will consider accompanying us for this trip on May 28th.
Below are pictures of students browsing through books written by authors coming to our school on Authors Day. Our librarian is preparing us for the event being held on May 9th. It looks as if I will be a very inspiring event! Other pictures show a bulletin board the class created as part of our math unit on graphs and tables. Be sure to ask your child which of the graphs and tables he/she helped to create.
Important events for this week include:
Mon. - Library;
Tues. - Map testing for some ELL students;
Thurs. - Book Fair with our Buddy Class (browsing and writing wish lists;) Purchases will be made the week of April 21st.

Weekly Update 4/8/14 - 4/1/14
Sorry I did not get off an email or blog entry over the weekend. There are a few important details, however, that I will go over now. Library time has been moved back to Mondays. With MAP testing being during the middle of the week, Monday is just a better day for getting books.
.
Speaking of MAP testing, ELL students will begin their testing next week. Other students in the class will begin testing the following week. Here is the MAP schedule for those not in ELL.
Math: Session 1 - Tuesday, 4/22
Session 2 - Wednesday 4/23
Session 3 - Thursday 4/24
Reading: Session 1 - Tuesday 4/29
Session 2 - Wednesday 4/30
Session 3 - Thursday 5/1
Please do not schedule any doctor appointments before 12:00 on any of these testing days! Also, I am sorry that I cannot give an exact date for the Ell tests. Their tests are done with Mrs. Crawford, so she has that schedule prepared. If I find out any more about that, I will let you know.
There are two field trips planned for the end of the year. One is to Suson Park. That permission note went home yesterday. Please send bus money and permission slip back in an envelope marked with your child's name. All parents are welcome to join us for this trip, though you may need to drive to the park if the buses get too crowded. Our other trip is to the zoo. The date of this trip is May 28th. That permission slip will be coming out soon. If you would like to attend that would be great, because I would like for students to roam the zoo in very small groups of 3. That means I am hoping for 6 parent chaperones. The only drawback is that parents will need to meet us at the zoo. For those who volunteer, we will be specific about a meeting time and place so that you feel comfortable doing this. Some may even want to carpool, so I could make a list of other parent volunteers available to those who want to attend.
As for our studies - let's just say we are overdosing on MAP style math, writing, and reading. Please continue to encourage your children to remember what is being taught/reviewed and to continue to do their best. Thanks for all of your effort in helping your child progress!
