Weekly Update 4/14/14 - 4/18/14

It looks as if spring and warm weather are finally arriving!  Keeping everyone focused is proving to be a challenge, but I know this class can do it.  Besides, it is only a little bit longer.  Students are trying their best on all MAP activities.  I have no guarantees, but at least I can tell you that everyone is trying to be a proficient student and test taker.

This week will be busy with MAP testing for ELL students.  The next week, testing will continue as the rest of the class joins in.   To help with relaxation after the testing period, I usually make trail mix for the class to enjoy.  Please send in any of the following for our trail mix:  pretzels, M 'n M's, Cheez-it's, Goldfish, peanuts, sweetened cereals such as Golden Grahams or Apple Jacks, mini marshmallows,  semi sweet chocolate chips, etc.  I combine whatever I get and it makes a great treat!  Thank you in advance for your help with this!

Thank you to parents for sending in permission notes and money for our Suson Park field trip.  Look for another field trip note in this week's Wednesday folder.  I hope several parents will consider accompanying us for this trip on May 28th.

Below are pictures of students browsing through books written by authors coming to our school on Authors Day.  Our librarian is preparing us for the event being held on May 9th.   It looks as if I will be a very inspiring event!  Other pictures show a bulletin board the class created as part of our math unit on graphs and tables. Be sure to ask your child which of the graphs and tables he/she helped to create.

Important events for this week include:

Mon. -  Library;

Tues. - Map testing for some ELL students;
Thurs. - Book Fair with our Buddy Class (browsing and writing wish lists;)  Purchases will be made the week of April 21st.
Fri. - No School!
